What Are Private Label Products?
The majority of retailers, both online and offline obtain their merchandise from suppliers. There aren't many companies that produce and sell their products directly to customers. That sales channel method is becoming more prevalent, but it is still uncommon. A private label product is one that is manufactured by a third party but sold under the retailer's own brand name just like many private label food manufacturers California. Everything about the product or items is in the retailer's control. This includes the product's specifications, packaging, and everything else. The retailer receives the private label products and sells them. They are the company's "own brand" items in the eyes of the public.
Both branded and private label lines are
available in most consumer product categories. Private labeling is a choice
available to both online and brick-and-mortar shops. It's when a merchant has
lines made for them to sell under their own name and branding. Here are some
examples of industries where private labeling is most common:
1.
Grooming & Personal Care - Private label nail polish, shampoo, and
other personal care products may be sold in nail salons, hairdressers, and
other facilities.
2.
Food & Beverage — there are many private label food
manufacturers selling various items like
Store-brand condiments, sauces, and other items.
3.
Clothing - Clothing retailers on the high street frequently sell
their own lines as well as branded alternatives.
4.
Pet Food & Accessories - Pet stores that sell their own brand of
food, toys, and other items.
